Species

Species thematic Pillar

Species conservation in Pakistan is a challenging task. Increasing human population and its dependence on natural resources along with major development projects have adverse impacts on species. The utilization and management of biodiversity in Pakistan is not sustainable. Pakistan has eight distinct eco-regions with rich biodiversity. Although Pakistan has low endemism but the regional endemism of species places Pakistan in an important strategic position for species conservation.

WWF – Pakistan Species Thematic Pillar as the first step prioritized species and defined criteria for the selection of species that are to be included in the five years strategic plan.
